Ryan and Michelle are Walking for Multiple Sclerosis

Posted by michelle on March 31, 2008

Dear Family and Friends,

Every hour of every day, someone is diagnosed with MS. That’s why I registered for Walk MS and that’s why I’m asking you to support my fundraising efforts with a tax-deductible donation.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is dedicated to creating a world free of MS but they can’t do it without our help. It’s faster and easier than ever to support this cause that is so important to me. Simply click on the link at the bottom of this message, enter my name, and complete the brief donation form. If you prefer, you can send your contribution to the address listed below. Please make sure you include my name so my account can be properly credited.

Any amount, great or small, helps to make a difference in the lives of people with MS. I appreciate your support and look forward to letting you know how I do.

P.S. If you would like more information about the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, how proceeds from the Walk MS are used, or the other ways you can get involved in the fight against MS, please visit www.nationalmssociety.org

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Sincerely,
Ryan and Michelle Schooley

Day 4 – Austin, TX

Posted by michelle on March 22, 2008

It stormed and rained until the late afternoon. but we picked Sara up for lunch and went bowling. Then we went to the mall for a little shopping.

after Sara got out of work we went to the Driskill hotel bar for happy hour.

then went out to dinner at Malaga’s Tapas restaurant for Sara’s birthday. the food and sangria were excellent. Tapas resturaunts are really fun because everything is in small portions meant to be shared so you get to try a lot of different things. also, our waitress accidentally forgot to charge us for about half the stuff we ordered so she got a huge tip :P

after dinner we went downtown to Maggie Mae’s for a SXSW party and there was free beer, yay!

Day 3 – Austin, TX and SXSW

Posted by michelle on March 22, 2008

we picked up our SXSW wristbands, went to BD Riley’s irish bar for lunch, their jalapeño deviled eggs are awesome! and the kid playing the violin was pretty good too.

then we got in line to see the SXSW movie premiere of The Promotion at the Paramount Theatre starring Seann William Scott and John C. Riley.

The movie was really funny, it was about 2 assistant grocery store managers going against each other to get a manager position at a new store. and what they do to each other to get ahead in the eyes of ‘the board’ is great. it should be out this summer, I recommend checking it out.

Day 2 – Austin, TX

Posted by michelle on March 22, 2008

we went on a hike up in the hills overlooking town lake which we went kayaking on later in the week.

Texas has lots of cool looking trees.

later, we checked out a couple of bars; lance armstrong’s bar six, a gothic bar prague and the light bar.

we thought it was funny that prague was gothic and looked like ozzy’s house but had skis and snowshoes hanging on the wall behind us.

then we grabbed some pizza from a street vendor in front of the frost tower and checked out the sights around downtown.

Day 1 – Austin, TX

Posted by michelle on March 18, 2008

We got in around 9pm and went to dinner at Curra’s Grill to try their avocado margaritas. they were a bit strange, not gross, but it was more like a smoothie than a margarita. it was very filling. This was our first meal, margarita and picture in Austin.

Then we went downtown for a while and checked out Pete’s Piano Bar and Friend’s Bar.

We had a great time in Texas. we were there for 10 days and had a complete blast with Sara and Antonio. They were the best hosts and we were never bored.

We hung out in Austin a lot and went to SXSW, went hiking, swimming, had picnics and went canoing. we also went to San Antonio for a couple days and it was really fun.

I will update with more details of the trip once I sort through the pictures, but in the meantime feel free to check out our photos.
